MoonPack: an all-in-one app for group travel

The context

As my major project at Le Wagon in Victoria, I worked with two other students to develop MoonPack, an all-in-one platform for group travel. We all shared the same pain point: we’d each experienced trying to organise a trip away with a group of friends. There are multiple apps, and messages spread across WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Things get chaotic, and that’s before you’ve even decided what you want to do as a group or how to split the expenses.

Why MoonPack?

MoonPack was created to be the all-in-one group travel app, with voting on suggested activities, commenting on plans, fair expense splitting and automatic itinerary generation for the group.

The approach

Exploration

We worked together using the user story framework to discover what our users would need in terms of features and functionality. We split the workload between us, and my focus was the expense-splitting logic and UX.

Prototyping

Using Figma, we created a brand UI kit and decided on the user flow for the app.

Building

We built the app with Ruby on Rails.

The results

• Launched and presented MoonPack in November 2025
• Received excellent feedback on the design and functionality
• Free to use today as a web app at moonpack.app
